Squirrels

December 1, 2006

We very much enjoy watching the antics of the squirrels in
our nearby woods and I had to smile when I read the
thoughts below about Squirrel Philosophy - A Comparison of
Squirrel Philosophical Theories in the early 21st Century!

Capitalist Squirrels - He who dies with the most nuts,
wins.
Atheist Squirrels - There is no nut maker.
Polytheist Squirrels - There are many nut makers.
Church of Christ Scientist Squirrels - We are the nuts.
Communist Squirrels - Everyone gets the same number of
nuts.
Bahai Squirrels - All nuts are just fine with us.
Mormon Squirrels - Every boy squirrel can have as many nuts
as he wants.
Jehovah's Witness Squirrels - He who sells the most nuts
door-to-door, wins.
Existential Squirrels - Nuts are a figment of your
imagination.
Confucian Squirrels - Once a nut is dipped in water, it is
no longer dry.
Agnostic Squirrels - It is not possible to know whether
nuts make a bit of difference.

As we approach Christmas, if I were asked to write a
“Squirrel” understanding of the coming of Jesus, I think it
would have to be something like this. “Why are we getting
so hung up about the nuts, its just amazing that our
Creator has become a Squirrel and come to live among us in
our trees”. St John expressed it a lot better for us human
being when he said; “The Word (God) became a Human Being
and lived among us, full of grace and truth.” Wow – let us
not forget, with all the familiarity of the birth story of
Jesus, that the Gospel writers are telling us this
wonderful and life changing truth that Jesus came to live
among us and bring new life to all who would believe.

“The Nativity Story” is a new film which will be released
in Cinema’s nationally on Friday December 8th. We believe
this is a very authentic and moving production and it would
be great to have a group to go together and take friends.
Look out for details in the Notices.

With warmest Christian Greetings
