Thank You

July 1, 2007

Dear Friends,

I would like to take the opportunity, through the
Newsletter, of saying “Thank you” to all those who have
been involved in our Fortnight of Events to celebrate our
new Halls.

As I write we are preparing for the final weekend with the
Barbecue, Balloon Race and Songs of Praise.

Thank you for being part of all this, and specifically:
•   For your presence – for Halls without people are but an
empty shell
•   For your worship and celebration – there is an account of
our Celebration Service on June 10th written by Ken
Gunderson
•   For your prayer – prayer reminds us of our dependence on
God and we certainly know that “unless God builds the
house, we are building it in vain”
•   For your Thank Offering Gifts for our Gift Day of £11,635
plus a Loan converted to Gift of £5,000, add Gift Aid of
£1,400 and also £2,000 for furnishings (Curtains/Blinds).
We will let you know when matters with contractors are
settled and the outstanding sum still to raise for the
Halls is known. These gifts now are an encouragement to us
all – thank you
•   A special word of thanks goes to Derek Baxter and the
organizing group as well as to a large number of people who
have been staffing events or have been hosting coffee

Most of all we are thankful to God for His goodness to us –
a goodness most expressed in the sending of His Son Jesus
to bring us life and being thankful for that is a choice we
make. It is easy in good times when we see obvious
blessings but it also a choice when things seem difficult.
It was pointed out to me recently that Psalm 95:2 says;
“Let us come before the Lord with thanksgiving” and it does
not say “Let us come before the Lord with grumbling” I
hope I will be able to remember that at the right moment!

As this is the July and August Newsletter I would take the
opportunity of saying that I hope that you have a good
summer especially those with school children for whom this
is a family time and often an opportunity to be away.
After our Fortnight of Events we will need time to take
stock and pray for God’s guidance as we go into the Autumn.
We hope to hold an Alpha Course in the Halls starting in
September so let me know if you are interested and please
consider who you might like to invite.

With warmest Christian Greetings
Kath Pawlett

PS A note for your Diary for the end of August. We will be
having an informal Church Family Picnic on the Recreation
Ground after the morning service on Sunday August 26th.
Just bring your own picnic and we will enjoy being together
and having a game of rounders. We will give out reminders
in the Notices nearer the time.
