Easter
April 1, 2009
Dear Friends,
Easter shouts out to us, “Jesus is Alive” and that knowledge impacts the whole of our lives. It reminds us of God’s ultimate victory over sin and death and assures us that if we ask Him he will live in us forever.
The Resurrection of Jesus in first century Palestine helps us to claim new life and renewal in other areas of our lives, therefore we should be people who walk humbly before God but who know the power of the Risen Lord.
It was a pleasure to share in our General Church Meeting in March and sense the encouragement that we give one another. There are Named Minutes from that Meeting for everyone on our Church Directory and I hope that you will read your copy especially if you were not able to come to the Meeting. (Please see myself or Sue Ward is you have not got a copy and would like one).
Some of the Highlights were: • The Joy of our Halls being well used and the ability to be alongside our Hall Users. • The Joy of Rosemary’s announcement that we have now received enough to pay for our Halls and be free from debt. • The positive looking forward to Forty Days of Community • Information about Hopefest which is the Mission to the Sevenoaks Area later in the year. Since the AGM we have agreed to be a sponsoring Church – see the item later in the Newsletter. • Lots of things planned to happen from Christian Aid Week to World Church BBQ… and especially our Family Fun Day on May 4th at Otford Manor • Things in the hearts of individuals that are matters for prayer, reflection and investigation to discern the way forward… from desires to care for those with dementia to providing a guided Prayer Room – perhaps once a month….
I pray that our sense of unity and purpose may continue to strengthen, not only as we focus on our God given Purposes in Forty Days of Community but because the Risen Lord is living in our hearts and guiding us by His Spirit.
Therefore in the very best sense of the words I do wish you a Happy and Blessed Easter, full of the Hope of the Risen Lord.
With warmest Christian Greetings God Bless you, Kath
