Purposes
July 1, 2009
Dear Friends,
I am writing my this letter as we approach the end of “Better Together” (Forty Days of Community) and I would like to say a very BIG Thank You to all those who have been involved in making Better Together possible and to everyone who has shared in the groups and Sunday Teaching.
For me to say that we are approaching the end of “Better Together” is rather a misleading phrase , for although the actual campaign and specific sessions are ending, there are many things that are continuing. Not least we will have a deepened sense that we can fulfil God’s Purposes of Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry and Mission… better when we do it together. In addition there have been specific things that have touched individuals and groups and we will see the fruit of those as we look ahead.
As I was thinking about Better Together I read the following Poem which was headed “A Poem to Read Twice” When you have turned the page and read it TWICE think again about the way that the Purposes we have looked at in “Better Together” really do help to reverse the attitudes that can so easily creep into a lost generation. We have the most wonderful message in the world, however, the challenge is how to enable others to know that reversing power of God’s love in Jesus.
If you are at home or away I pray God’s Blessing on you this summertime
With warmest Christian Greetings God Bless you, Kath “A Poem to Read Twice”
I am part of a lost generation And I refuse to believe I can change the world I realise this may be a shock but “True Happiness comes from within” is a lie, and “Money will make you happy” So in 30 years I will tell my children That they are not the most important thing in my life My employers will know that I have my priorities straight because Work Is more important than Family I tell you this Once upon a time Families stayed together But this will not be true in my era This is a quick fix society Experts tell me 30 years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce I do not concede that I will live in a country of my own making In the future Environmental destruction will be the norm No longer can it be said that My peers and I care about this earth It will be evident that My generation is apathetic and lethargic It is foolish to presume that There is hope
And all that will come true unless we choose to reverse it Now READ IT BACKWARDS from “There is hope”...
