We believe that as Christians our faith is reflected in every part of our lives and we seek to offer service in our communities and places of work. We also have an awareness of the wider needs of the World that we support in a variety of ways as individuals and in partnership with others.
“Loaves and Fishes”
Sevenoaks Food Bank. A container is available in our Hall Lobby if you would like to donate non-perishable food. These are taken weekly to St John’s Church distribution point.
Meals with a blessing
We have an arrangement with the wonderful team at the COOK store in Sevenoaks -they give us free meals that we pass on to anyone we hear of whio might need a little support or comfort. So folks who may be bereaved or unwell, Post -op or accident or who are struggling with poor health or other reasons- not limited to the church family, but open to anyone that we hear about who may benefit from a nice meal or two. We are due soon to pass the 5000 meals given out mark which is a wonderful thing.
Bags of help
We also have an arrangement with the local school- if they let us know of any families who require extra help- we dont know any names- its all anonymous, we supply extra groceries for them to help when time are hard.
Fairtrade
We use Fairtrade Coffee and our Traidcraft Stall is available every Sunday and throughout the week in the Coffee Lounge. We support the principles of Fairtrade and believe this is a small way of making a difference for particular communities in the third world.
Churches Together in Sevenoaks and District – Social Concern
Churches Together in Sevenoaks and District have a very active Social Concerns Ministry supported by many of the local Churches. Otford Methodist Church is among these and offers supports in a variety of ways through Prayer, Volunteers and Finance. This group is going through a time of change currently and a new parent organisation is being formed.
These include:

- Befrienders
- Sevenoaks Christian Counselling Service
- Child Contact Centre
- Debt Counselling Service
Action for Children
Action for Children is a national organisation coming from Methodist roots, providing a variety of ways of supporting children, young people and families. There are opportunities to give throughout the year to support this work.
