From our Minister

Dear Friends,

Christ is risen! Hallelujah!

What wonderful news – Jesus who was dead, is alive again and reigns forevermore. How this message fills our hearts with joy and may we, the redeemed of the Lord, say so!

I wonder how quick we are to share good news with others? I heard a man say recently, that in the days before mobile phones, as he had taken his wife to hospital to have their first child, she had given him a list of numbers to call once the baby was born. He’d therefore gone to the hospital armed with the requisite numbers in order to call everyone at the appropriate time.

After the baby was born, he had made the first call to his wife’s mother who had been thrilled and excited. He’d then picked up the phone to call his own mother who had reacted in the same way. The next call he made was to his wife’s sister and before he could say anything she congratulated on him on being the father to a healthy little boy – and so it continued all the way through the list. The good news had travelled fast!

As Christians we have the most wonderful news to share – Jesus who died is risen. He is alive! He has conquered sin and death. As Colossians 1 tells us, ‘He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins’. This is not something that is earned, we have done nothing to deserve it – it comes through Christ alone. Why would we be hesitant in sharing this good news?

May we be found faithful in declaring the good news of Jesus.

I pray that we will each know the risen Christ walking with us this day and in the days to come.

With love,
Jane
