Dear Friends,
As many of you will know, Andy and I have just got back from a holiday in North Wales. We really enjoyed it, and the weather was perfect for walking. We usually stay in a place near Dolgellau, in the foothills of Cadair Idris, and it is absolutely beautiful.
I remember one year when Andy and I were there, we went to a local church, and the preacher was a very old man, and he was speaking about the Welsh Revival. It is thought that over 100,000 people came to Christ in that year (1904 – 1905), and this man burned with a fiery passion as he spoke of Jesus and the changes that had come to communities. Sparks from the awakening ignited fires across many other countries. On spiritual tinder dry ground, fires quickly took hold, and revival spread and the revival song, ‘Here is love, vast as the ocean’, became known as the love song of revival.
How we long for that spiritual awakening again. How spiritually dry and parched this land has become, and how we need the tangible Presence of Jesus to be seen in this nation. Revival has been prayed for and prophesied for many years, and as we look to the Lord to see what is on his heart, it is exciting to see the shoots that are starting to appear.
Although I am not a fan of HS2, which decimated the area in which we used to live, I do believe that the Lord wants to bring a highway of holiness through this land, and often what happens in the natural is a picture of what the Lord wants to do in the Spirit. Therefore, I would encourage you not to grow weary of praying and seeking his face, for there is a time coming, I believe, when we will see the Lord move once again in this nation.
Psalm 24 declares Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty – he is the King of glory.
May we see the gates lifted up in our day, that the King of glory might come in.
