What to Expect

What to Expect

We are a lively Christian Church and would like to offer a warm welcome to any visitors. Our great aim is to help people grow in faith in Jesus Christ, whether they already know a lot or virtually nothing about Christianity.

Sunday service times

  • 10:30 am A contemporary service. (Occasionally we hold an All Age Worship service)
  • 6:30 pm Traditional evening service.

What are your services like?

Our main contemporary Sunday Service is at 10:30 am and has singing led by our Worship Band which includes guitars, keyboard, harmonica, flute and singers – we sing contemporary Christian songs and use video and drama to enhance our services. The service generally lasts about 75 minutes. It is informal and seeks to bring people into the presence of the Holy Spirit with prayer, worship and preaching.

Sometimes these include Baptisms and Baby Dedications.

Song words and prayers are displayed on large screens for all to follow with written words for those who have any visual disabilities. We have a hearing loop for those with hearing difficulties. Our buildings are wheelchair friendly.

We offer prayer ministry at these services – people who are willing and ready to pray with you for anything that you would like.

After the service, we offer coffee and a social time where Church Family mingle and catch up and it’s a great way to meet newcomers.

What about the children?

We have groups that are suitable for all age groups including crèche for babies with Junior Church leaders.

The first 15 minutes or so of the service is aimed at children and then they leave to go to their various groups unless it’s an All-age worship Sunday when they stay in with us (and the service is shorter and more child-friendly)

We love having children with us, and we don’t worry about the noise they make! -so don’t be worried – if you prefer they stay in the service that is also fine and we have small bags of toys for use if needed for the younger ones.

OMC is committed to safeguarding and protecting children or vulnerable adults and all our Junior Church leaders have current DBS checks and follow our Children’s safeguarding policy. Click for info. We are members of CCPAS (Churches Child Protection Advisory service).

Is there a dress code?

We don’t have a dress code, we come as a family.

All-age service

A 10:30 am contemporary All-Age Worship is suited to all but the crèche children. It is a shorter service – around 45 to 60 minutes aimed at all members of the family. These are held occasionally throughout the year. See the calendar to see when.

Evening services

Our 6:30 pm services in the Church vary throughout the month, and include prayer services, healing services and are always more informal and reflective.
